The perfect utensil for mixing or stirring in a pot or a skillet. The straight sides let you ‘stir down’ from the sides, and the slanted bottom allows you to reach into the corners or scrape up from the bottom.
The Big Ida is a taller version of our most popular Utensil "Ida". Big enough to use in a stock pot. The straight sides let you ‘stir down’ from the sides, and the slanted bottom allows you to reach into the corners or scrape up from the bottom.
The story of the ‘Ida’: The Ida is not only our Number 1 selling utensil, it is the genesis for all of our utensils. When Larry’s mom, Ida, an excellent cook, passed away, we inherited her mixing paddle that was well used but showing definite signs of wear and tear. Patricia liked using it to cook and asked Larry to refashion one for her from local wood. We first called it a Stirrer but soon renamed it for its namesake – Ida. We took Ida to our local farmer’s market and people were drawn to her. Larry fashions her with varying sized handles from our local wood, and people love to find the one that fits their hand. Once again, upon request, he made the Big Ida, for those pots of winter soups and stews or for scooping ice cream out of the churn. Maybe she can help you to cook too!
All utensils are hand crafted from locally, responsibly sourced wood. Each is treated with food safe mineral oil and finished with our Woodbutter.
